6 Easy Tricks to Make Memories Last Weeks

Namaste, for a student, if you want to score good marks in any examination, the most important thing is to memorize what you have read or learned. What I say if you can recall anything easily learned or read back 2- 3 months ago is amazing right Yes, it is possible with very simple steps/technique that you will be able to recall things for a longer period of time.

6 Tips to Keep Memories Fresh for Weeks

If you want to become a finance professional, courses like chartered accountant, cost accountant, CFA or company secretary, there is a big portion where you have to learn lots of things which are theoretical. And we all know that in the theoretical part we have to recognize many points, many concepts, many definitions, and also sections for a longer period of time to score better in examinations. This blog will definitely help you to score well in your examination following a simple technique we are now discussing. That will surely describe your success path.

Briefly discuss the point what will cover in this blog

  1. Listen carefully remember to be good writer to be good speaker listen anything carefully
  2. Write your notes in concise manner make a separate notebook do not done your highlighted points
  3. Use left and right side of book for different note writing purpose
  4. Make habit to recall to revise your notes after certain regular intervals
  5. Eliminate points which you easily recall or remember and write down again those points which you don’t recall easily.
  6. Make a habit to use points that are not remembered easily in your day to day life. Whenever needed.

How Listening Sharpens Your Writing Skills

In my blog I chose the listening step on the top because it is much easier to grab data while listening. Try to concentrate your mind on voice. Do not entertain any other thoughts in your mind. Make sure that your mind should be stabilised and focus only on the voice. Try an experiment. If you listen to any podcast rather than a video you will find that you will recall many things from the podcast as compared to a video because there is less distraction. You properly concentrate your mind on specific things. Here is the voice.

But from a student point of view, you will find that there is a lot of data which is not in the form of voice. Either it is in the form  of books or in PDF. But, if it is in PDF format you can easily convert it into voice through various software available online or through Google Chrome extensions. Here is the link of some softwares and Google Chrome extension. Try, convert the PDF into voice.

Stop Copying Highlights: Write Notes That Stick

Now coming to the second part, whenever you write something, chances of remembering rises by 100%. Make a habit that whenever you listen, write it. But in writing you must have to leave laziness. Most people do not write as they find it a lengthy process as well as feeling lazy while writing. But trust me if you write you will remember. No matter how much you write in the starting phase. But start at least one page. If you know the technique right in a concise manner well and good but if not don’t worry practice makes you perfect. Try to make such points that are concise as well as will cover almost everything. Like shorthand and technique where they follow a unique character that helps to record speech on paper fast and precisely.

Turn Book into Study Tool Left Right Split

Now moving to the third point for example you are preparing for an audit subject included in the chartered accountant course, cost accountant course as well as in bachelor degree like b.com. Make a separate notebook subject wise like cost audit or if you are studying for economics then make a separate notebook for economics and so on definitely it will increase your volumes of notebooks but with specialisation point view it is definitely good.

Or one thing you also can do similar nature like cost auditing and financial auditing make a same notebook and divide into half. Such that your auditing part is in the same notebook.
Now, what you have to do is on the left hand side of the book, note down only that point which you have heard earlier or you have known something about. And on the right side opposite of the left side. That is new to you and you had heard for the first time. Make sure that it is in a concise manner.
In the starting phase you will find that the left side has a small amount of data compared to the right but later on the right side will be smaller than the left side.

Build a Simple Routine Review Notes Every Few Days

Now the fourth point recognition part decides a specific interval, say a week. Take that notebook where you have written your own notes in a concise manner. Now you will understand the importance of conciseness. As due to consciousness you can easily cover a large data span of time say one day if you are decided to recall on a weekly basis. Now it is the actual part of recognition: open your notebook and write on the points which you have learned or read past week. Same thing you have to follow the things you have recognised or easily recall right on the left side and on the right side right which you are not recognised or difficult to recall. Follow these steps until your right side should be zero. Follow the writing technique regularly with the same specific period where we are chosen 6 days of the time period. Follow this up to when you make your right side zero.
